Beauty education is all about hands-on, in-person learning — and nothing beats seeing it in action! We want to meet you, introduce our team, and show you our facilities.
Come in for your own personal, no-obligation tour of Nathan Layne Barbershop Academy. During your tour, you can:
- Ask questions about the programs you are most interested in, or determine which may be the best fit for you.
- Meet our amazing team of instructors and staff
- Talk with current students about their experiences

Enrollment Requirements
We want all of our students to graduate, obtain a license, and successfully launch their beauty career of choice. That’s why we require the following documentation for enrollment:
You’ll need to provide the following:
- Completed application form
- Letter of recommendation
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma, GED, or transcripts
- Any applicable name change documents (like a marriage license or divorce decree)
- An application fee of $30
- A registration fee of $70
Entrance Essay or Project
We also ask student applicants for an entrance essay, project, or video. This is your time to let your creativity shine and tell us why you think you’re a great fit for Nathan Layne Barbershop Academy.
We accept many formats for this entry essay or project — from traditional written essays, slide presentations, or a YouTube video!
What Should I Include In My Essay/Project?
In your essay or project, please answer these questions:
- Tell us about yourself: who you are, and what are your interests and hobbies?
- What draws you to the beauty industry?
- Why Nathan Layne Barbershop Academy?
- What’s your support system while you’re attending our school?
- How will you make sure you start and finish the program?
- What are your future goals and plans?
